Maihama Fishing Quick Reference · 6/20 (Sat)

Main target Black Seabream クロダイ · Ebb-tide session · Gear: VIB / metal jig / minnow / T-tail
In one sentence:Don’t fish it like a seabass mazume bite; fish the black seabream ebb tide. Start after 7:47 high tide, search first with a 10g VIB (don’t scrape the bottom) → if you snag / get no bites, switch to a T-tail Texas rig and slow-search tight to bottom → if fish are busting in the channel, switch to a minnow → metal jig is only the long-cast backup. No signal in 30 minutes: move. Totally blank after 90 minutes: pack up.
Maihama ebb-tide scene diagram
Maihama river-mouth ebb session: channel = seabass, nearshore = black seabream (the worse the drawing, the more the fish want to hide)

🎯 Target & Window

ItemDetails
Main target fishBlack seabream (クロダイ)— nearshore; seabass are only opportunity fish in the channel
Core approachWatch the tide, not the time slot: best during ebb tide + slowing current (tested in the group)
Main windowThe ebb-tide stretch between 7:47 high tide → 14:47 low tide
ArrivalAround 7:30 is fine; no need to rush before dawn

🌊 6/20 Tides (verified with JMA Tokyo station)

TimeTideNotes
07:47High tide 172cmStarting point; ebb tide begins after this
14:47Low tide 42cmEnd of the ebb window; once the water flattens after this, call it
21:27High tide 175cm(Evening session; no need to stay if you already fished daytime)
Tide-type reminder:6/20–21 is a medium tide (heading toward the 6/25 new-moon spring tide). Spring tide ≠ guaranteed blowup— group mate “Guangtouqiang” got “3 fish on a spring-tide night, 17 on a neap tide.” The ebb-tide current state is the key, not the size of the tide.

🪝 Lure Priority

Four-lure diagram
Four-piece kit: VIB to search / metal jig for distance / minnow for the channel / T-tail Texas rig as the bottom-contact workhorse
TierLureUse
FirstVIB 10gStart with long casts to search; steady retrieve in the mid-lower layer with light twitches and pauses. The bottom is all shell debris and snags like crazy—don’t pin it to the bottom
FirstT-tail Texas rigBullet weight + weedless hook, slow-search tight to bottom. The stable main weapon for the day; switch to it if the VIB snags / gets no bites
SecondMetal jigUse instead of VIB when it’s windy / the water is muddy / you need distance
SecondMinnowOnly switch to it when fish are busting in the channel / chasing near the surface; don’t linger
Buy before heading out: bullet weights (a few grams to 10g) + weedless hooks (オフセットフック)— these are key for the T-tail Texas rig, and also central to avoiding snags at Maihama.

📋 Game-Day Rhythm

1
Arrive at 7:30, watch for 5 minutes first
Current, waves, wind, and whether anything is busting in the channel
2
Start after 7:47 high tide · VIB 10g long-cast search; stay in the mid-lower layer, not on bottom
3
No signal on VIB after 15 minutes / frequent snags → switch to T-tail Texas rig and slow-search tight to bottom, while also changing casting angles—don’t only cast straight out
4
Channel busts / surface chasing → temporarily switch to minnow, hit it, then come back
5
Strong wind / VIB hard to control → switch to metal jig for distance

🚦 Skunk-Loss Control · Go / Stay Decision

Skunk-loss control diagram
If there’s no bite in 30 minutes, leave—don’t grind yourself down into this state

If you see these → leave / change spots

  • The water is not moving, dead flat → if it still hasn’t moved by 8:15, change spots
  • The water is whitish / full of floating trash / fast and muddy (Old Edogawa discharge)→ leave the river mouth
  • VIB won’t get down, Texas rig won’t hold (current too fast)→ go to an eddy / bank corner / behind structure
  • No baitfish, no busts, no birds, and the whole line of anglers on shore is blanking
  • After 14:47 low tide, once the water goes flat again → pack up

If you see these → there’s a chance; stay and grind

  • The water is slowly ebbing, and the lure is controllable
  • Slightly stained but not dirty water
  • There is an edge line (current seam / light-dark boundary)
  • You can feel structure feedback on bottom
  • There is small life along the bank (baitfish, little shrimp)
  • Other anglers are seriously adjusting, not just phoning it in
Key mindset:Black seabream often feed quietly on bottom; visible busting is not the only sign of a chance. Judge by these “pre-cast signals,” not just by waiting for fish to jump.

⏱️ Hard Time Boxes

No signal at one spot for 30 minutes → change spots 3 spots / 90 minutes totally blank → pack up and go home Don’t camp, don’t stubbornly grind, don’t blank until your mood collapses
